Swordsman Class Guide

The Swordsman is the most beginner-friendly class in Solo Hunters, offering high survivability, excellent AOE damage, and straightforward gameplay.

Primary Stat

Strength

Difficulty

Easy

Solo Tier

S

Group Tier

A

Strengths

  • • Highest survivability among DPS classes
  • • Excellent AOE damage with Shadow Scythe
  • • Simple stat allocation (100% Strength)
  • • Best class for solo dungeon farming
  • • High damage even with basic gear

Weaknesses

  • • Melee range only - must get close to enemies
  • • Slower attack speed than Assassin
  • • Less burst damage on single targets
  • • Can struggle against kiting bosses

Stat Allocation

Swordsman has the simplest stat allocation in the game. Focus entirely on Strength until late game, then add some Defense for survivability.

Recommended Build

Level 1-40

100% STR

Level 40-50

90% STR

10% DEF

Level 50+

80% STR

20% DEF

Why no Agility? Swordsman weapons have slow base attack speed. Agility provides minimal benefit compared to raw Strength scaling. Your damage comes from big hits, not fast attacks.

Best Weapons

Greatsword

Tier S

The classic Swordsman weapon. High base damage, wide swing arc for hitting multiple enemies.

Stats: High base damage • Wide attack arc • Good stagger

Best for: General use, dungeon farming

Scythe

RECOMMENDEDTier S+

The meta weapon for Shadow Scythe builds. Synergizes perfectly with the rune for maximum AOE.

Stats: Massive AOE • Shadow Scythe synergy • Room-clearing potential

Best for: Farming, speedrunning

Mythic Dual Daggers

Tier A

Faster attacks but lower per-hit damage. Better for on-hit effect builds.

Stats: Fast attacks • High crit potential • On-hit synergy

Best for: Boss fights, crit builds

Best Runes

Shadow Scythe

Priority #1T0

The defining rune for Swordsman. Creates a massive AOE attack that clears entire rooms. Essential for efficient farming.

Synergy: Scythe weapon, high Strength

Divine Blade

Priority #2T0

True damage that ignores enemy defense. Essential for high-level bosses where even maxed Strength can't break thresholds.

Synergy: Any weapon, boss content

Crimson

Priority #3T1

Hybrid damage rune. Good alternative if you don't have T0 runes. Scales with both Strength and Magic.

Synergy: Hybrid builds

Leveling Guide

Level 1-20: Early Game

  • Complete Starter Devil Hunter quests
  • Use any weapon that drops - don't buy from shop
  • Put ALL points into Strength
  • Don't waste gold on enchants yet

Focus: Quest completion, learning mechanics

Level 20-40: Mid Game

  • Start dungeon speedrunning
  • Shadow Scythe becomes essential here
  • Group mobs together before using AOE
  • Upgrade to Scythe weapon if possible

Focus: Dungeon farming efficiency

Level 40-50+: Late Game

  • Start investing in Defense (10-20%)
  • Farm for Mythic weapons
  • Use Legendary enchant scrolls
  • Challenge Octopus Devil and Shark Devil

Focus: Boss hunting, gear optimization

Pro Tips

  • Mob Grouping: Run through rooms to aggro all enemies, then turn around and use Shadow Scythe to hit them all at once.
  • Boss Positioning: Stay close to bosses to maximize uptime. Your high HP lets you tank hits that would kill other classes.
  • Enchant Priority: Look for Sharpness (+% damage) and Lifesteal on your weapons. These scale incredibly well with high Strength.
  • Party Role: In groups, you're the off-tank. Stay near the Tank to help with adds while dealing damage to the boss.
